Fox suing Warner Bros., wants to give Watchmen the axe

August 19th, 2008 Russdogg |

So I was watching Attack of the Show on G4 and saw this reported. Fox is suing WB, claiming that they own the film rights to Watchmen. And that today the judge denied WB’s request to dismiss the lawsuit. Furthermore, and if the company isn’t already looking enough like douchebags, Fox has stated that they are uninterested in settling. Rather they want Watchmen killed. Simply a scare tactic? Let’s hope so.

Transformers 2 gets official subtitle

June 5th, 2008 Russdogg |

Filiming, and the fanboy rumor mill, has already begun on the sequel to Transformers. The sequel now has an official title, according to a release by Hasbro. Get ready for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

A bit on the cheesy side, but eh. Also of note, in the Hasbro release it states a dead character will make a “dramatic comeback to settle a score”. Popular speculation suggests it’s Megatron, who was killed in the first film, and that the new subtitle also refers to him. Makes sense.

Hasbro release can be read here.

Watchmen To Get Animated Feature To Coincide With Cinema Release

May 28th, 2008 Mark Lucherini |

Or, at least, kind of.

Empire has the news that the comic within the comic, the story of the Tales of the Black Freighter, will be getting a fully animated DVD release just after the movie, in order to whet our appetites.

However, Tales of the Black Freighter really doesn’t have much to do with the full story of Watchmen, being more of an aside - an extra little alternative the creators threw in as a creative little side story, concerning the fact that in a world with real super heroes, comics like Superman didn’t gain much popularity, with instead comics about Pirates being the big thing.

This is just all slightly odd. My feeling is that they knew they couldn’t dedicate as much time to the side story - which is as well written and crafted as the main story, only shorter - so decided to give the fans a taste of it via the DVD release.

Watch for both the animated feature and Watchmen to hit next May.

(And to whet your appetite til then, hit up Ain’t it Cool News for a shot of the Minutemen - the heroes who started it all in the Watchmen universe)

(And for heavens sake go pick up the book if you haven’t read it!)

Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li movie details

March 26th, 2008 Wayne |

IGN is reporting the cast so far for the next Street Fighter movie.  While most of you know good and well that I am a Chun Li fanatic and seeing Kristin Kreuk in  Chun Li’s outfit on the big screen, I just do not have much faith in this, considering the butcheroisty that was the first one, with Jean Paul lucarde or some such has been.   So it’ll either really suck, or be mildly entertaining, but I doubt it’ll hit the unattainable goal of “good”.  That is though, just my opinion.
